The Parkland High School "Trojan" Marching Band is a traditional style marching band that performs at all PHS varsity football games, as well as local and regional parades. Notable performances include numerous performances in Walt Disney World's Main Street Parade, the 1997 Chicago Thanksgiving Parade, the 2014 and 2019 Baltimore Saint Patrick's Day Parades, the 2009 and 2019 New York City Veterans Day Parades, 2022 Disneyland Parade in Anaheim, CA, and the 2022 6ABC Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade. The "Trojan" Band will return to Philadelphia on Nov. 28, 2024 for it's second appearance in one of the country's largest Thanksgiving Day parades!
Beginning with the Class of 2015, all students enrolling in Band at Parkland High School are considered members of the PHS Marching Band and Concert/Symphonic Band. After a two week band camp held at the end of August, most rehearsals are held during the school day when students are scheduled for their band class. Performances are typically Friday evenings during the football season. Transportation to away games is provided by school bus from the high school band room. This limited performance schedule, combined with rehearsals during the school day, makes the marching band aspect of our program accessible to all of our band students, while allowing them to pursue other interests, sports and activities!
Prior to the Fall of 2011, the PHS "Trojan" Marching Band competed in field shows as a member of TOB Chapter 2. The Trojans were named the Chapter 2 Champions 7 times and earned 11 appearances in the prestigious TOB Atlantic Coast Championships.
It is the hope of all the band teachers at each level, elementary, middle and high school, to see all Parkland Band students continue performing in Band throughout their entire scholastic career and beyond!
