Math Facts are oh-so Important!
Please encourage your child to study all basic math facts. There are a variety of ways to study basic facts, but the most tried and true way seems to be flashcards. Encourage your child to study facts a few minutes each day and they will soon enjoy the success they feel when solving problems. As math concepts become more complex, students need to recall facts quickly in order to solve multi-step problems. Our new math program, Math in Focus, supports the fact that students need to understand the relationship between numbers in order to successfully retrieve math facts. Once the understanding of that relationship is mastered, the act of "studying facts" will be mastered soon after!
Try to Read Daily!
Remind your child to read everyday! When students practice reading, their fluency and comprehension improve. When students improve upon something, their confidence is boosted to new levels! Reading is a great way to spend time together as a family and build upon skills taught during the day.
