Peer Mediation Program
The Peer Mediation Program provides an opportunity for students to find peaceful solutions to their conflict with some assistance from Cetronia's fifth grade students. These fifth grade students or conflict managers, are responsible students who have chosen to give up several of their recess periods to go through a lengthy training process. When the training is complete, the conflict managers have exercised and sharpened their listening, communicating, interviewing and reflecting skills.
The teachers, students, school counselor, playground aides and/or principal may make referrals to the peer mediation program. This confict resolution process provides the students involved with peer support and guidance through a challenging situation. At the conclusion of peer mediation process, the students experiencing the conflict feel empowered and the conflict managers feel proud of their contribution to the Cetronia School community.
