All OWNCS K-5 students receive library instruction. Classes are scheduled to come to the library once a week Our lessons cover library skills, some of which are listed above such as library organization, finding material and just right books, as well as research skills and digital literacy/citizenship. In addition to these skills students listen and learn about new and classic literature and authors.
Students do not receive grades in library.
Homework is not often assigned in library. However, students may be asked to finish work at home if they have been unable to complete it during class time due to a student’s lack of participation. Also, as part of their assigned work students are encouraged to take care of all of their library materials and show responsibility by returning books on time.
