WORLD BOOK NIGHT 2013

World Book Night was started in the United Kingdom in 2010 and it is celebrated on April 23.  According to the World Book Night website "April 23 is the UNESCO International Day of the Book, as well as Shakespeare’s birthday. It was also chosen in honor of Miguel de Cervantes, who died on April 23, 1616 (the same day as Shakespeare). In the Catalan region of Spain, the day is celebrated by giving a book and a flower to a loved one."   World Book Night is now an annual event and this was the first year that we here at OWNCS participated.  Our MS Literacy Co-ordinator, Ms. Bean organized the event and encouraged our students to also get involved in what was primarily a way to encourage reading among adults.  Students and faculty had a wonderful time participating in this event and we look forward to participating next year.  For more information on OWNCS participation with World Book Night 2013, please check our main school website at OWNCS.ORG
