Visualiser

Some ideas for using the Visualiser

    • For whole-class instruction when explaining an activity or a concept in a book (e.g. Figure it Out activities or games)

    • Sharing a poem, photo, or short article in a book (small book => big book). Particularly good when using journals for shared reading.

    • Change the mode to 'Microsope'. Look at insects in detail. What does our skin look like close up? Check out househod products (e.g. sugar, fabrics, bread ...). Also rocks and minerals (there is a collection in the resource room), plant leaves, seeds and flowers ...

    • Whole-class or group demonstrations of concepts using equipment (e.g. demonstrating maths equipment like place-value blocks, Cuisinaire rods ...

    • Small-scale science activities - everyone can see!

    • Share student's written work.

    • Demonstrating techniques in visual arts

    • Showing off and capturing small pieces of student art work (for example; clay sculptures, fabric work, paper constructions, jewellery...)

    • Scan student work and save to the network - one step towards an e-portfolio.

Some hints:

    • If using the microscope mode make sure you have plenty of light (for example, a halogen free-standing desktop lamp. Placing the light to the side will bring out the texture in the object.

    • You can take a photo or video using the Visualiser - particularly useful when using the microscope. This can be saved to SD card or flash drive and then shared later and used as a focus for further activities or language enrichment.
