COVID-19 RESPONSE
The Southwest Iowa COVID-19 Response Fund, a partnership between Pottawattamie County Community Foundation and the Iowa West Foundation, will support the many and varied ongoing local efforts of our nonprofit partners to address challenges brought forth by COVID-19, as well as focus philanthropic efforts to ensure resources are available to the nonprofit organizations serving our community.
As the local impact of the pandemic unfolds, our community's desire to help has been inspiring. Contributing to the Southwest Iowa COVID-19 Response unmet needs fund is one of many ways in which everyone can make a difference.
Individual donations may be made online or by check made payable to PCCF. Staff members are available to answer questions by phone at 712.256.7007.

FAMILY INC. DEBUTS NEW MOBILE WELLNESS UNIT
FAMILY, Inc. debuted their new Mobile Wellness Unit on Saturday, February 27 and conducted 19 oral health screenings and fluoride treatments, and 12 vision screenings to area youth during their annual Dr. Seuss Literacy event held at the Charles E. Lakin Human Services Campus.
The new unit was funded in part by the Southwest Iowa COVID-19 Response Fund, a partnership between Pottawattamie County Community Foundation and Iowa West Foundation. We are happy to have supported such a wonderful project that will benefit hundreds of families in our community.
jennie ed, chi mercy collaborate to receive covid grant dollars
Two health care facilities in Council Bluffs recently received sizable grants from the Iowa West Foundation and Pottawattamie County Community Foundation in an effort to mitigate issues stemming from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital and CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs were each awarded $75,000 through the coordinating organization’s Southwest Iowa COVID-19 Response Fund that was jump-started last year shortly after the pandemic reached Iowa.
Both facilities applied for funding last year and received a comparable gift through the fund that assisted with immediate facility coronavirus needs, said Donna Dostal, president and CEO of the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation.

Thanks to grant funding from the Southwest Iowa COVID-19 Response Fund – an initiative of Pottawattamie County Community Foundation and the Iowa West Foundation – along with contributions from the Peter Kiewit Foundation and the City of Council Bluffs totaling $400,000, the school district is able to leverage CARES Act funding to accelerate completion of the network in the Rue and Longfellow Elementary School neighborhoods.
