Unit Crest

The Latin motto on our Montpelier Rifle battalion's unit crest is "Optimis Dedicati". Essentially, it means, "Dedicated to the highest degree possible."

The horseshoe represents the "Knights of the Golden Horseshoe" who first explored Orange County.

The flower is an "American Dogwood", the State flower of Virginia.

The scroll represents our continuous stride toward "Academic Excellence".

The "Shield" displays our "Coat of Arms"

The colors of the "shield" are blue and orange, our school colors. The shield is surrounded by a gold border.

The color "Orange" represents "Fidelity".

The color "Blue" represents "Loyalty".

The color "Gold" represents "Generosity and Elevation of the Mind ".
