The Facts About OCD

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a condition in which people experience repetitive and upsetting thoughts and/or behaviours.
Has two main features: Obsessives and Compulsions. There may be many different types of each.
The exact cause is unknown. Risk factors include genetics, trauma and stress.
OCD can start at any time from preschool age to adulthood.
It is manageable!
The Facts About BDD
>
An anxiety disorder whereby a person is abnormally preoccupied with an imagined or slight defect in their physical appearance.
Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) usually develops in adolescence a time when people are generally most sensitive about their appearance.
Often co-morbid with OCD, depression or Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
Prevalence is unknown. 1% of the population has been suggested as a conservative estimate.
It is manageable!
The Facts About Trich
>
People who have Trichotillomania (TTM) pull out hair from their scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows or other parts of the body.
Some researchers have found that nearly 20% of hair pullers eat their hair or chew off and swallow the root ends.
Prevalence is estimated at 1-2% of the population.
It is manageable!
