Oakland University is a public university co-founded by Matilda Dodge Wilson and John A. Hannah whose 1,500-acre campus is located partly in Rochester Hills and partly in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It is the only major research university in Oakland County, from which OU derives its name. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has classified OU as a Doctoral Research-Intensive University.

The Engineering Center will be the hub of the ApREECE REU program. The state-of-the-art building has been serving faculty and students since its construction in 2014. Providing ample instructional and research lab space along with technical, computing, and machine shop support, the Engineering Center will be your home away from home for the 10 week program.
The Research and Innovation Center (RIC) houses many research and collaboration areas. Renovated in 2024, the 48,700 sq. ft. building provides "...faculty, students, and industry partners to push the boundaries of innovation and tackle some of the most pressing challenges of our time." - Louay Chamra, Dean of the School of Engineering and Computer Science.
The RIC may be utilized by ApREECE for industry meet/greets and research collaborations.
