Musicianship Goals

• Use a singing voice

• Perform a steady beat

• Perform the rhythm

• Perform simple ostinatos with body percussion and rhythm instruments

• Perform the beat on Orff instruments

Music Literacy Goals

In first grade students begin reading music. They will be able to read, write, and identify songs with one, two and no sounds on a beat and with high and low pitches. Students will be able to read, compose, and identify sounds using the following:

• Quarter notes and paired eighth notes

• Music staff

• So and mi - high and low pitches

• Quarter rest
