Positive behavior, good manners, and helping one another are many things I teach in my classroom.
After all classroom rules are established and students understand the meaning of each, our Classroom Behavior System will go in effect. By following the rules, your child will learn the importance of good behavior in school, which in turn will help them become an outstanding student, a good friend, and a great citizen.
Within my classroom, I use the "Pull a Card System".
Students will be required to "pull a card" when their behavior does not meet school and/or classroom expectations. I also look and reinforce positive behavior within my classroom. Those students will be rewarded for following directions, obeying school and classroom rules, using good manners and making positive choices.
Below describes the system and consequences for negative behavior.
GREEN….. All students will start on GREEN each day. This means they are having a great day! Students are expected to stay on green all day. Negative behavior will not be tolerated in my classroom.
YELLOW…..A verbal warning will be given to get behavior back on track!
RED….. Students will lose 5 minutes off a desired activity and a behavior notice will be sent home.
BLACK….. Parent will be called and a behavior notice will be sent home. Student may be referred to principal if teacher feels needed.
PURPLE….. Students will be able to earn a purple card/s throughout the day if they are caught displaying exceptional behavior, helping out another student without being asked, using good manners, or making good choices.
Students will be given a monthly calendar that will be secured in their take home folders. They will be responsible for coloring in the color they were on at the end of the school day. This will help and keep you involved with your child's behavior. I ask that you please communicate with your child if their card was pulled and review the rules with them.
When students earn 5 purple tickets, they will be able to turn them in for an incentive card to reward their good behavior!
Some of the incentive cards include:
-Sitting at the teacher's desk!
-No shoes in the classroom!
-No homework pass!
-Switch desks with a classmate!
-Have lunch/recess with Mrs. Woehrle's class!
-Computer time instead of Morning Work!
And many more great choices!!!!
REWARDING CLASS BEHAVIOR
I will also be rewarding my class as a whole. I will be doing so by using our Classroom Marble Jar. Any time my class is following directions, staying quiet, working hard, working well in groups, walking nicely and quietly in the halls as a class, etc., they will be given a marble in the class jar! Marbles can also be earned by compliments from other teachers, 3 stickers from Music class or returning from special quietly.
When the Classroom Marble Jar is filled, students will be rewarded with a Classroom Party of their choice!
-Ice Cream Party
-Pizza Party
-Popcorn Party
-Ice Pop Party
