About Me

My name is Whitney McCoy. I was born in Indiana but moved to North Carolina when I was a little girl.  I went to elementary, middle, and high school in eastern North Carolina.  After high school, I attended UNC-CH and got my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.  I then returned to my hometown and earned my Master's of Science in Counselor Education at East Carolina University. I began my counseling career in Pitt County (4 years).  I also worked in Wake (9 years) and Pender (1 year) Counties before becoming a counselor in New Hanover County Schools. I worked as the elementary counselor at Gregory for 5 years, Eaton Elementary for 4 years, and have now returned to Gregory as the middle school counselor!  I earned my National Board Certification in Counseling in 2007 and renewed my certification in 2017.
