Homework

*Room 401

Homework is an important aspect of your child’s education.  Every Monday, your child will be responsible for writing down his/her homework assignments in his/her agenda.  These assignments reinforce skills that are taught in class and it also is a parents’ link to topics discussed.  Each week the assignments will be posted on the websites on “newsletter” tab, but you should expect math and reading assignments every week.

I will email the homework home as well as give your child a copy.  The email is for you to know what the homework looks like.

Reading homework ~ your child will be expected to read nightly and hand in a reading journal each week with 7 or more sentences telling me about what they have read.  I do not expect a book to be finished in order to complete this assignment I just want them to be able to tell me about the book they are reading.  They will also have a reading comprehension sheet to complete; this sheet will be given out Monday and will be due Friday.

Math homework will be handed out 1-2 times a week and due the next day.  The homework will be to reinforce what was learned during that week.  All late assignments will drop 10 points.   Homework will be given 1 -2 nights a week for math class.  Homework is an extension of the day's lessons and is a necessary assignment.  There will be times that those assignments may be used for grades but most often it is for extra practice and being responsible for completing it.

Science and social studies will typically be in project form that will be assigned with a month to complete.  Morning work will consist of science and social studies EOG style questions.

I WILL PROVIDE A WORKING LUNCH OR TIME DURING RECESSS ON FRIDAYS FOR THOSE NOT COMPLETED WITH WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS :)
