About Your Teacher...

My name is Jennifer O'Connell and I have been teaching for over 34 years and I have been at Anderson since it opened in 2006.  I began my teaching in New York in 1990 with a 3rd grade class and then transitioned into a middle school environment teaching 6th grade and 8th grade.  I also have a degree in school counseling and hope to transition into a counseling role in the future.   I moved to Wilmington in 1997 and taught 7th grade at Roland Grise Middle School.  I took a 2 year break after my second child, Kevin was born and then started back in 2001 at the elementary level with 4th and 5th grades working at Blount then Snipes Elementary.  I am excited to be a part of the third grade team  here at Anderson and look forward to more adventures and memories!!  

    I have two children; my daughter Mackenzie is 30 and my son Kevin is 26.   Wow -the time certainly flies ~ on my first web page for Anderson my son was in second grade and my daughter was in sixth grade!

    During the summer I love to read and hang out at the beach, poolside or on my porch.  I also love to hang out with my friends.   I have two cats named Pearl and Priscilla  and  a dog named Henry who I take long walks with and bring him to the CB State Park and the beach to play in the surf! 

        I know this year will bring new adventures with smiles and a lot of learning!  I look forward to being a part  of  your child's education for the year 2025-2026.
