Highlights:
Course Description: This course promotes learning the essential vocabulary and processes of theatre. It will include personal development, structure of plays, varieties of plays, evaluation, improvisation, pantomime, voice and diction, and acting. In addition, students will learn about and reflect on aspects of theatre throughout history and different cultures, as well as the various forms of theatre and theatre related media. This course also assists students in developing a sense of creativity and spontaneity.

We will be using the standardized school grading system:
Practice 40%--Graded activities to teach curriculum standards during the learning process.
Class Work—40% To earn full points, student must be an active and appropriate participant in all class activities, which means listening quietly to instructions, rehearsing the entirety of a given rehearsal time, volunteering during improv games, and being engaged at all times.
Performance 60%--Student’s demonstration of mastery of curriculum standards
This will then be further broken down into:
Written Work—20% Includes critiques, reflections, blocking diagrams and the like as well as quizzes and the rare written homework.
Stage Performances—20%
Audience Grade--20% It is essential that students learn, and demonstrate, appropriate etiquette as respectful and attentive audience members during performances.
*Please note: you will need to memorize for this class and you will need to get on stage, both by yourself and as a part of a group. Refusing to memorize and/or perform GREATLY limits your chance of success.
