About Me

I was born in Kansas but raised my whole life in Cary, NC and graduated from Cary High School in 1997. Go Imps!

After graduating from NC State University (B.S., Math Ed, 2001; M.S., Math Ed, 2003), I taught here at NHHS for three years from 2003-2006 including two years in the Lyceum Academy. I have been back since fall of 2015, and have taught nearly every math subject offered.

During my time away from the classroom, I worked for a small travel company that arranged overseas student performance tours and then for almost 7 years in corporate finance at a large pharmaceutical company here in Wilmington.

I never left teaching altogether though. Since 1996 I have tutored continuously, ranging from elementary to college students. I love helping people learn math. In 2015 I started an educational nonprofit, Strength in Numbers Tutoring, that makes private tutoring available to all students regardless of financial ability.

I enjoy running and was even crazy enough to complete the Wrightsville Beach Marathon in 2017. I coach my sons' basketball and baseball teams, and I'm fanatic about the Boston Red Sox. They're wicked awesome!

Let's go Wildcats!
