This class will function out of Google Classroom. Students should accept invitations that have been emailed to them before the first day of school. If parents would like to be added as observers to the Google Classroom, please contact Mrs. Maarschalk.
The focus of English IV is primarily British/European Literature, but we will also weave in some work on Common App submissions and a film studies unit near the end of the semester. Students will need to be prepared each day to read, write, and think critically about the narratives we explore.
Because the course functions out of Google Classroom and we are one-to-one with technology, all students are accountable for any missed work. Mrs. Maarschalk will not keep hard copies of all assignments available for absent students. If they are able, they should be proactive in communicating and catching up on any assignments when out of school, especially for sports and field trips for other classes.
In Fall 2024 the class meets during first block. If Mrs. Maarschalk doesn't have coffee in her hand first thing in the morning, something is wrong. Give her peace, patience, or a fresh cup of joe before we get moving in class and all will be well!
