Greetings Wildcats! I am thrilled to be your teacher this semester! It has been quite the journey for me to find my home in Wilmington and I am so proud to be here at New Hanover. I love this school and these students, and to say I'm a little school spirited is definitely an understatement!
I am originally from a very small town on the Ohio River called East Liverpool, Ohio. If you want to know anything about pottery, I'm your girl, as my hometown was once known as the "Pottery Capital of the World!" I graduated from Ashland High School (ironically, my school colors were also orange and black!) and went on to receive my Bachelor's of Arts in English from Malone University in Canton, Ohio in 2010. Almost ten years later, in December 2019, I became a National Board Certified Teacher for English Language Arts.
We are so thankful to have lived in this wonderful community for the past decade! We adopted our two amazing children in August 2019 and love seeing them grow and thrive. It is not uncommon to see us running around town, literally! We are avid runners and love to train for races (Corey became an Ironman in November 2015!)! Other activities I enjoy include reading (of course!), traveling (13 countries and counting), films, writing, photography, and connecting with the community through volunteerism (especially connected to the YMCA of Southeastern NC).
I am excited to get to know each of the students at NHHS as we explore the amazing world of journalism and literature, and capture the memories each year brings to our Wildcat home!
