Common Core Math Quest Objectives
Throughout the year students will participate in a math simulation that familiarizes students with the strategies used to solve word problems in mathematics. Through Math Quest students will understand that math is interrelated and one problem might be solved using more than one problem- solving strategy.
Units introduce, reinforce, and solidifies problem-solving skills as well as oral communication skills as student teams travel through four exciting worlds in search of treasure. Working both independently and cooperatively, students create and solve word problems, then present oral explanations of these problems. Students also use and refine team decision making skills as they encounter obstacles and opportunities on their journey.
