Speech language pathologists and a contract audiologist work closely with our department to ensure that our students are receiving the support that they need to be successful.
Meet our teachers!
Hello and welcome to our new school year! My name is Mary Katelyn Harker. I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in December 2015. I received a Bachelor of Science in Professions in Deafness with my Birth-12 Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher Licensure. My skill set ranges from American Sign Language to Listening and Spoken Language skills. I am currently serving as our Maximum Service Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher at Forest Hills Global Elementary. This will be an odd year as we navigate these remote learning waters but I am so excited to accept the challenges. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at Mary.Harker@nhcs.net.
My name is Christel Williams. Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year! This year looks differently than any year in the past. I am the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Itinerant for New Hanover County Schools. I am starting my 5th here in my hometown county. I recently received my second National Board Certificate in the area of Special Education. I have a Master's Degree in Low Incidence Populations/Deaf-Blind. I have two children (22 and 16). My 16 year old is a Senior and will graduate in December. I am excited to step into this "new" journey as it relates to our current circumstances. You can contact me at Christel.Williams@nhcs.net
