About Me

My name is Mrs. Matney and I am Eaton's school counselor.  I am a North Carolina native, having lived in 5 different towns/cities in the state, but Wilmington has been my home for 31 years! 

I received my undergraduate degree from Meredith College in Raleigh and later returned to school to receive my M.Ed. in School Counseling from Salem College in Winston-Salem. Before becoming the school counselor at Eaton, I was an elementary classroom teacher.

I am married and we have two daughters. We also have two rescued cats, Rudi (12 yrs.) and Poppy (3 yrs).

In my free time, I enjoy singing, reading, and spending time with my family.
