Welcome
Welcome to an extension of the National Estuarine Research Reserve's (NERR) Estuary Education Resources. Our goal for this site is to provide 5th-12th grade teachers in-class and outdoor hands-on lessons for their students. Our vision for this project is to take NERR-related science and translate that into relevant, relatable classroom curriculum.
The modules were developed in collaboration among eight (8) National Estuarine Research Reserves. Each module centers on research being conducted at one (or more) of these Reserves. The modules include Climate Change, Ecosystem Services, and Water Quality. Each module was designed for teachers that want to integrate hands-on interactive lessons into their classrooms. Overall the modules:
introduce students to the overall concept and it's underlying issues
provide students the opportunity to participate in hands-on relevant research and science
provide students opportunities to take part in civic-minded lessons that can be incorporated in their daily lives.
