We will be working with the story “The Bear Attacks that Changed America” from the May 2020 Scope magazine this week. You will need to login to the online Scope magazine. Here is the link: Scope Magazine Click on “I am a Student.” Our classroom password is miners19. Once you are in, click on the May 2020 edition (the cover has a bear on it). After you click on the May edition, all of the stories will appear below. Click on “The Bear Attacks that Changed America.”

Read/listen to the story. There are two different options to view/read the story. You can keep the screen as it is when you click on the story, or you can scroll down a little and on the left side there is a “Presentation View” with “Read the Article” right below it. If you click here, it will open a new tab, and the article will look just like the magazine. There are also two options to listen to the story. The first is under the article heading and says “Want to hear this story read aloud? Click here!” The other option is on the left side of your screen and says “Text-to-Speech.” This option will highlight each word as the story is read.
