The NJROTC Uniforms are an integral part of the NJROTC program and is required to be worn once each week. It is required to be worn on prescribed uniform days all day long from the opening bell to the dismissal at the end of the day. Each cadet will be issued a complete uniform free of charge and is responsible for the proper wear and its upkeep. Guidance for proper wearing of the uniform is taken from the Cadet Field Manual and the Riverview High School NJROTC SOP. Cadets are responsible for the cost of the uniform if an item is lost, destroyed or otherwise unable to be returned. Cadets will be placed on the indebtedness list if necessary to receive payment for those items. Failure to wear the uniform on the prescribed day results in a zero for the day. There are no excuses for not wearing the uniform. We have heard all the excuses: in the cleaners, could not find part of the uniform, got up too late, at my friend house, etc. None are valid. Bringing a note in from parents is also not a valid excuse.
If a cadet is absent on the prescribed uniform day due to illness, field trips, etc. they are required to wear the uniform on the next academic day of the week missed or on a day agreed to with the instructor. Failure to make up the uniform day will result in a grade of zero for the weekly uniform inspection. Remember, wearing of the uniform is 30% of the semester grade so it is a very important aspect of passing NJROTC. Additionally, any cadet that fails to wear the uniform more than 3 times per semester will results in an automatic "F" for a final grade for that term..
