Chief Warrant Officer 3 Michael Donato, USN (RET.)

Chief Warrant Officer (CWO3) Michael Donato entered the Naval Service from Hollywood, Florida in 1995. He attended Recruit Training at Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of Basic Training he attended Electronic Warfare Technician Training in Pensacola, Florida and was then assigned to USS SAMUEL ELIOT MORISON (FFG 13) in Mayport, Florida. He completed his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Qualification and promoted from the rank of EWSN to EW1 during his tour onboard. In February 2001, he reported to Naval Technical Training Command Corry Station, Pensacola, Florida, where he was the Lead Instructor for the AN/SLQ-32 Maintenance course. Here he completed the Master Training Specialist Qualification and in September of 2003 was promoted to the rank of Chief Electronic Warfare Technician. In December 2003, he reported to USS O’BANNON (DD 987) in Mayport, Florida, where he was the Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO) and Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO) for OT, OC and OI Divisions. CWO3 Donato deployed to the Mediterranean on O’BANNON’S final deployment before Decommissioning. In August 2005 he transferred after the Decommissioning of O’BANNON to Commander, Carrier Strike Group Ten, serving as Assistant Electronic Warfare Officer. He completed his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist Qualification during Partnership of the Americas Deployment onboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) and deployed onboard USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75) in support of Operation Iraqi/Enduring Freedom (OIF/OEF). In March 2008 he was commissioned to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CWO2) and transferred to NIOC GEORGIA for his first tour as an officer where he served as N31 Division Officer. He stood up the Tactical Maritime Watch providing SIGINT support to NAVCENT and forward deployed ships. He also earned his Information Dominance Warfare pin and promoted to CWO3. In March 2011 he reported to USS GETTYSBURG (CG 64), where he served as the Ship’s Information Warfare Officer (SIWO). CWO3 Donato deployed to the Fifth Fleet AOR and won the Association of Old Crows Award during his tour. In Aril 2013 he reported to NIOC Hawaii where he served on the staff of the Commander, Pacific Fleet as the Fleet Electronic Warfare Officer. Here he was responsible for all EW operations and future equipment installs for both Third and Seventh Fleets. In January 2015 he reported to NIOC Texas where he served as the N7 Training Officer until his retirement from active duty in March 2016. CWO3 Donato graduated from Excelsior University of New York with an Associates of Science Degree in Technical Studies and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Liberal Studies. Personal Decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (one silver star), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three gold stars), and various unit and campaign awards. CWO3 Donato is married to Amanda Donato and has four children, Brandon, Bryan, Nolan and Carson.
