Work with your supervisor on specific expectations they may have regarding requesting/communicating vacation or sick time. Here are some general tips!
When planning vacations, if possible please keep in mind important weekends for staff presence (for example, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Labor Day weekend, etc.)
Give your supervisor as much notice as possible for requesting vacation time.
Don't forget about the ability to flex your hours! Communicate with your supervisor if you would like to do this.
Inform your RA staff that you will be out of the office, and let them know who they can reach out to while you are out!

Click the Start button (lower left corner), All Programs, Accessories, and then click Remote Desktop Connection.
In Computer, type in your NAU computer name: Reslife###.reslife.nau.edu*
Click Connect.
The Log On To Windows dialog box appears. Type your NAU username (with NAU\ in front of it - the bottom "domain" should pop up as NAU), and password, and then click OK. You are now connected to your NAU computer.
To log off and end the session, click on Start, then Log Off.
From the outlook web browser (iris.nau.edu), click the settings icon in the upper right corner.
OR
From the Outlook desktop, click "File" in the top left corner
Click on "automatic replies"
Click "send automatic replies" and add your automatic reply email to the box (see template below for assistance)
you can either set the dates for the automatic reply or turn it on with the intent to turn it off when you are back in the office
Click "OK" to save your automatic reply and settings

You are able to record a separate message for your voicemail when you plan to be out of office
Unlock your desk phone by inputting your pin number
Open your Voice mailbox by selecting and calling "Voicemail."
Say “Personal Options” when prompted to choose from the menu
You will need to use your telephone keypad to follow the next prompts.
Select "2" on your keypad to update a voice message, then follow the prompts to record/update your "Away" message. Return to the main menu of "Personal Options" to select "1" and turn on your "Away" message
Your "Away" message will play when callers ask to leave a message when Automatic Replies are turned on through your Outlook account
