UPDATE ON FINALIZED DATE FOR MS CHEER EVALUATIONS/TRYOUTS as of May 1, 2014

  • Tuesday, June 3 9:00-11:30 in MS gym

  • Wednesday, June 4 @ 9-11:30 in MS gym

  • Thursday, June 5 @ 9-11:30 in MS gym. Final evaluation Day

April 7, 2014: Attention 8th graders interested in trying out for h.s. cheerleading. There will be an informational meeting this Thursday, April 10th at 2:45 in the high school in room E207. Anyone unable to attend should stop by E207 on your own time.

Fall Cheer Camp for both Football and Basketball cheerleaders will tentatively be scheduled the first week of August-----

August XXX and August XXX

Camp is run by Americheer and lasts 2/3 days. Cheer camp is required. Please plan your accordingly.

2014 Practices begin the week after Cheer camp in August.

Evaluation material required:

  • Jump: Varsity and one of choice

  • Tumbling: Round-off and one of choice (either another round off, standing back handspring, round off back handspring or back tuck). No cartwheels, front walkers, front handsprings.

  • 2 -3 chants

  • 1-2 cheers

  • Spirit/Stage Presence

Football Cheerleader vs. Basketball Cheerleader

FOOTBALL: Practices are usually on Monday's and Tuesday's from 2:45-4:30.

7th grade games are typically on Wednesday's

8th grade games are typically on Thursday's

  • Football cheerleading practices begin in early August and run through early October

  • Football cheerleaders can not participate in other fall sports (volleyball, cross country, tennis, golf)

  • Football cheerleaders cheer outside in all types of weather (warm, cold and rainy)

  • Football cheerleaders cheer at Home as well as Away games during the season

  • There are 10 cheerleaders per squad

BASKETBALL: Practices are usually on Monday's and Tuesday's

Game day varies: Typically Tuesday's or Thursday's.

  • Basketball cheerleading practices tentatively begin in November and run through the end of January

  • Basketball cheerleaders can not participate in other winter sports (basketball, swimming)

  • Basketball cheerleaders cheer inside at all games

  • Basketball cheerleaders cheer at ONLY HOME games during the season

  • There are 8 cheerleaders per squad
