Course Description
This class is designed to give students an understanding of the importance of accounting principles in both society and the business world. Accounting I goes through a complete accounting cycle for a service business organized as a proprietorship.
Students will access The Aplia Century 21 Accounting Multicolumn Journal Online Working Papers that supplement our textbook. The online working papers provide students with quick feedback and tracks assignment completion. Students will have an access code so that they can access the assignments from their computer at home or school. All tests will be taken in class using the online program. In addition, students will be assigned additional reinforcement assignments in class. The current reinforcement assignments can be accessed at my teacher website.

Grading
Grades will be determined by the number of points earned on assignments, projects, participation and tests. Your grade is 65% from tests and 35% from homework. Students are allowed to retake each test once. There is a final test problem that students will complete at the end of the trimester.
Late Work
In the business world late work is frowned upon and often unaccepted. The same rule applies to this class. Late work will only be accepted as per your student handbook. It is your responsibility to complete the work within two days of an excused absence.
Classroom Expectations
Appropriate business office behavior.
Read the assignments and keep current with your class work.
Cover your textbook.
· Take care of your personal needs during the passing time between classes.
Be in your assigned seat when the bell rings. Stay in your seats until the bell rings.
Report any computer issues or vandalism at the start of class.
Cell phones may not be used during class.
No surfing the internet, playing online games or downloading music.
Do not change computer settings, including background and wallpapers.
NO FOOD OR DRINKS at the computer stations.
Cheating Policy
Students are expected to uphold the school’s standard of conduct relating to academic honesty. Students assume full responsibility for the content and integrity of the academic work they submit. The guiding principle of academic integrity shall be that a student’s submitted work, examinations, reports, and projects must be the student’s own work.
Students shall be guilty of violating the honor code if they:
Represent the work of others, as their own.
Use or obtain unauthorized assistance from other students.
Give unauthorized assistance to other students.
Modify, without instructor approval, an examination, paper, record. or report for the purpose of obtaining additional credit.
Misrepresent the content of submitted work.
Cheating will result in a zero for the assignment, students will call their parents and the administration will be notified. Please note that this applies to both the student who turned in and shared their work.
