This class is designed to give students an understanding of the importance of accounting principles in both society and the business world. Accounting I goes through a complete accounting cycle for a service business organized as a proprietorship.

Understand how accounting and business activities are related
Use accounting documents to analyze financial information
Analyze business transactions
Journalize transactions involved in business operations
Post adjusting, correcting and closing entries to balance accounts
Prepare financial statements for a sole proprietorship
Use T accounts to analyze transactions
Journalize transactions that affect bank accounts and petty cash funds
Reconcile a bank statement

Grading
Grades will be determined by the number of points earned on assignments, projects, participation and tests. Your grade is 65% from tests, 25% from homework and 10% for participation.
Late Work
In the business world late work is frowned upon and often unaccepted. The same rule applies to this class. Late work will only be accepted as per your student handbook. It is your responsibility to complete the work within two days of an excused absence.
Classroom Expectations
Appropriate business office behavior is expected in this class.
It is your responsibility to bring your textbook, workbook, a pencil with an eraser, and a calculator to class.

Take care of your personal needs during the passing time between classes.
Classroom Rules
Do not talk while the teacher or another student is talking
Be in your assigned seat when the bell rings. Stay in your seats until the bell rings.
Report any computer issues or vandalism at the start of class.
Cell phones may not be used during class.
Do not log onto a computer without instructor permission.
