I agree to host a student from Germany from October 11 - October 31.
I agree to treat a student from Germany like another member of the family.
I agree to provide a student from Germany their own proper bed (not an air mattress or pull out couch).
I agree to provide a student from Germany three meals a day. I agree to respect and adhere to dietary restrictions. School breakfast/lunch is paid at the adult rate at school.
I agree to transport a student from Germany to and from school and GAPP activities.
I agree to enforce school, hosting, and GAPP rules.
I agree to notify GAPP teachers/coordinators if there are concerns, questions, or issues.
I agree to check email frequently and respond promptly when information is needed.
GAPP host families are also responsible for:
having a desire to share their lives with a young person from Germany.
accepting the young person from Germany as another member of the family.
providing a place to sleep. The student does not need to have a separate bedroom, but must have his/her own bed.
providing three meals a day. This is probably the biggest financial commitment.
providing transportation to and from school and GAPP activities.
providing structure and rules for the student from Germany and American host.
contacting the GAPP coordinator or teachers from Germany if there are any problems.
Financial commitment:
school lunches (German partner - $4.20/lunch)
Winnipeg field trip: transportation, lunch, dinner (American partner - ≃ $100.00, optional)
farewell breakfast (German partner, American partner are paid for; additional family members - ≃ $16.00/person)
Total: Varies, depending on if the American partner travels to Canada and how many people attend the farewell breakfast. The average would be around $100-$200.
GAPP coordinator, German teachers, and teachers from Germany are responsible for:
providing orientation meetings for the members of the host families.
organizing and coordinating all school activities and field trips.
being available 24/7 for assistance and consultation.
