As-Salaamu Alaikum,
All families are invited to the Annual Family Camping Trip, September 14-15, 2013 at Camp Wilson, Pohick Bay in Lorton, VA.
The Scouts of the Islamic Center of Northern Virginia are welcoming ALL to join them on a camping trip. You don't need to be in Scouts. You must provide your own equipment and food. We will provide the activities, the camp grounds, and an awesome campfire. The cost for the event is $10 per person, under 4 are free. However, you do have to complete the registration form below.
The weather should be perfect with sun during the day and comfortable sleeping temperature overnight. Novice campers are welcome - all you will need is a tent, a warm weather sleeping bag, a toothbrush, and a change of clothes.
There is plenty to do at Camp Wilson and Pohick Bay including hiking, fishing, mini golf, frisbee golf, or just quiet contemplation. There are also charcoal grills for anyone who wants to cook the old-fashioned way. The boy scouts and cub scouts will be doing theatrical skits in the Amphitheater on Saturday night around the campfire - guaranteed to be fun for everyone.
Cub Scouts will also be holding their annual Raingutter Regatta during the event. Come on time to make sure you can build your boat and race it.
Below you will find the necessary information and forms for the event.
Camp Wilson was owned by the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America between 1948 and 1967. Known as The Woodrow Wilson Scout Reservation the facility was primarily used as a residential summer camp but was also utilized on a short-term basis year-round by Boy Scout troops. The Wilson Reservation was closed in 1967 when the Boy Scouts consolidated their many camping facilities into a single reservation at Goshen, Virginia.
Pohick Bay Regional Park operates Camp Wilson as a short-term camping facility and the camp is used exclusively by organized youth groups including but not limited to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church youth groups and school groups.
