Here you will find helpful resources for navigating 8th grade science.
Virtual Table of Contents This link will take you to my Virtual Table of Contents. It is just like the real version hanging in my classroom, but here you will find links to all the handouts that go on the pages in your binder. Very handy if you lose a copy of a handout or are not sure where something goes in your binder!
Curious about our state science standards? Look no further! Here are the NJ Science Standards-the NJSLS-Science. In this pdf doc, you will find the state's mission and vision for how science should be taught. NJ was one of the states that participated in the creation of the NGSS (the national version) so when the state adopted the standards officially in 2020, it makes sense that their version is extremely similar to the national standards.

This link will take you to the homepage for the Next Generation Science Standards, the national science standards on which the NJ Science standards are based. https://www.nextgenscience.org/ There is a lot of good information on the site describing how the standards came about, how they are different from previous standards, the research that went into their design and how they are being implemented.
This pdf was published by NGSS as a parent guide for grades 6-8 on how these new standards are different from the traditional way of teaching science and answers some frequently asked questions.
This is the same publication as the one on the left, but this is geared for grades 9-12.
