Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Maple Shade School District has provided all of our staff and students with the wonderful opportunity to use Google Applications For Education. These applications are a great resource for your student to use inside and outside of the classroom. A huge resource for your student will be Google Classroom. This application will help my students stay organized and updated on all of their assignments. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Mr. Saenz
Instructions for Google Classroom
1. Open the Internet
Open whatever program you usually use to get on the internet. This might be Google Chrome (a circle with red, yellow, and green), Safari (a blue compass), or Microsoft Edge (a blue and green wave).
2. Go to Google
At the very top of your screen, there is a long white bar. Click inside that bar, type www.google.com, and press the "Enter" or "Return" key on your keyboard.
3. Find the Profile Circle
Look at the very top right corner of the Google webpage. You will see a small circle. It might have a picture in it, or it might just have the first letter of your name. Click that circle one time.
4. Add the School Account
A small menu will pop up on your screen. Look near the bottom of that menu for the words Add another account. It usually has a little plus sign (+) next to it. Click on those words. (Don't worry, this will not delete your personal account!)
5. Type in the School Email
A new box will appear asking for an email address. Type in the exact school email address that can be found at the top of your student’s planner on the inside cover. It must be the full email address including @msemail.org! Make sure there are no spaces. When you are done, click the blue button that says Next.
6. Type in the Password
Now the box will ask for a password. Type in the school password exactly as it is typed at the top of your student’s planner on the inside cover. If there are capital letters, make sure to use them. Click the blue Next button.
7. Open the "Waffle" Menu
You are now logged into the school account! Look back up at the top right corner of the screen. Next to the circle, you will see nine little dots arranged in a square shape (it looks a bit like a waffle). Click those nine dots.
8. Find Google Classroom
A menu full of different pictures will drop down. Look for the picture of a green chalkboard with a little person on it. Underneath the picture, it will say Classroom. Click on it.
9. Confirm the Student
Google Classroom will open. A box might pop up asking you to pick an account. Click on the student's school email address. If it asks you to choose a role, click I'm a student.
You are now in Google Classroom and ready to go!
(You can also download the app to your phone!)
