Expectations

Organization

The following is a list of supplies, your survival guide, if you will, that I have found to be successful in developing organizational skills:

· Pencils, pencils, and more pencils. You can never have enough. :)

· Colored pencils. I can provide the standard 8 colors, however, many students enjoy a wider variety when illustrating their map work and other assignments.

· A 1 inch, three-ring binder.

· One composition notebook – the type where the pages aren’t easily torn out.

· A set of fine tip sharpies is a luxury. The students find many uses for these little beauties!

· Highlighters.

· Daily make use of your assignment notebook, which your homeroom teacher will provide.

Homework

Homework will be assigned regularly and will be reviewed the following day for students to make corrections and ask questions. The expectation is that assignments will demonstrate thoughtfulness, quality, neatness, and that directions have been followed and completed on time. Choosing not to complete your homework will result in poor grades. The use of the Internet for homework is limited. Homework assignments will connect directly to your unit tests and will be used as your study guide, to prepare for the test. If you have questions about an assignment, feel free to email me anytime, see me before school, stop in during study hall, speak to me before you leave my class . . . however, it is inappropriate to ask for help right before class or as I am collecting the assignment in question. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed and to complete the assignment.

Extra Help

I am available after school, most days – so if you have been absent and need help getting caught up, I am happy to set up a time to meet. Additionally, you will have a forty-minute study hall each day.

I am thrilled to spend the school year working with you. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call: 474-3339, ext. 2246 or email: cluce@msad54.org.
