During reading, we work as a class to further the development of our fluency, comprehension, and questioning for deeper thinking. Students are encouraged in a number of ways to independently read during class time and at home. In class, we study skills and strategies to make us better readers in a mini-lesson together based upon a unit of study. This is a fun way to read because we are able to focus on different genres of literature! After our mini-lesson, we work independently in stations and small groups to further our work. At the end of reading, we meet back as a group to review the skills and strategies covered during class and our goals for the next time we meet together as a class.
