Classroom Rules

Wheeler Elementary School currently follows the PBIS system (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) to manage school and classroom behaviors. Our school rules are:

- Be Respectful.

- Be Responsible.

- Be Safe.

- Be a Problem Solver.

In order to reinforce these behaviors, students follow similar rules in our classroom. By following these rules, we eliminate any confusion as to what is acceptable behavior between the classroom and any other areas of school.

Positive feedback is such a powerful part of our classroom and I know that if I can approach my students in a respectful and caring way, my relationship with that student will continue to grow as the year goes on! Students may receive verbal praise, an email home, a shoutout on Seesaw, a Snap! ticket, or even a small prize for going above and beyond to make safe, responsible, and respectful choices in class. I love being able to recognize their good choices!

If students are making choices that are disruptive or disrespectful during class, they may be given a verbal warning or visual cue to get back on track. I typically try to follow up with a one on one conversation in the hallway to gauge my student's thoughts and emotions as well as help me decide on next steps, if needed.

More than anything, I try to communicate to students that we all make mistakes, have bad days, and are growing as people each and every day!
