Scholarships

Scholarship Tips:

    1. Read the information and/or directions of ALL scholarship forms.

-Some have specific eligibilities. Work on only the ones you are eligible for. If you are not sure, ask.

-Some essays are different. Write a specific essay if required.

-It is your responsibility to have all supporting documents before mailing it or turning into the counselor or secretary.

    1. Type the information unless requested to hand write. Neatness counts.

    2. Check that your name appears on EVERY page you submit.

    3. Ask someone to read and check your essay, application, and attachments.

    4. Request recommendation letters at least 3 weeks before the due date. Recommendation request forms are available in the main office for students to use when requesting letters of reference from faculty, coaches, youth ministers & employers.

- For scholarship recommendation letter requests NOT listed below on this web site students should provide an addressed envelope to the teacher, coach, or counselor. The sealed envelope will be returned to the student to be posted.

    1. Request transcripts at least one week before the due date.

    2. Please leave GPA and ranks off of the local scholarship applications as the counseling personnel will insert it.

    3. It is a good idea to keep track of who you asked to write letters of recommendations and for which scholarships they were for. They may need to be reminded of the deadline date.

    4. Provide envelopes for character reference letters and indicate your name, the name of the person writing the recommendation, the name of the scholarship, and the date due on the envelope. The person writing the letter should sign his/her name across the sealed flap of the envelope. If you are asking a person who is not an employee of the school district, you should provide a stamped, self-addressed envelope to yourself with the name of the scholarship listed above your return address.

    5. Do not put your application items into a large envelope, binders, folders or plastic sleeves, as they will not fit into the envelope being forwarded to the selection committee.

    6. Each scholarship recipient will be given a note card with the contact information and address so that a thank you can be sent to the sponsoring organization or family. Please retain this information for further reference. In many cases you will not receive the award until you show proof of registration at the college.
