Oncolytic Virus Engineering

This is a picture of the Oncolytic Virus Engineering team taken in the Fall of 2015.

This image show the cytotoxic effects (clumping of dead cells) due to infection with our engineered oncolytic virus.

This image shows a immunocytochemical staining of human cells that are infected with our engineered oncolytic virus.

The goal of this project is to engineer oncolytic viruses to suppress the action of oncogenic transcription factors. We insert DNA into the genome of the virus to give the virus our desired properties, and then test the effectiveness of the approach using human cancer cell lines and mouse models of human cancer.
