We work hard - "The difference between one person and another, between the weak and the powerful, the great and the insignificant, is energy - invisible determination. This quality will do anything that has to be done in the world, and no talents, no circumstances, no opportunities will make you a great person without it." (Thomas Buxton)
We choose to be positive - "Every day, every hour, offered the opportunity to make a decision which determined whether you would or would not submit to those powers which threatened to rob you of your very self, your inner freedom; which determined whether or not you would become the plaything of circumstance...in the final analysis it becomes clear that the sort of person you are is the result of an inner decision." (Viktor E. Frankl)
The dual meet/regular season has officially ended. We have athletes who have qualified for post-season, athletes who are close to qualifying - still trying to qualify, and athletes for whom their competition season is over. How do you know who you are? A great question that we don't always have easy answers for. This will help to explain where to start.
Check the "Qualifying Standards" page on the website and read along here for each of the upcoming meets.
Western Mass. Championships @ Mohawk - This is a provisional qualifying meet. A team championship is awarded. We submit any/all times that might be close to being in the top 32/24 for running/field events in all of Div. 5/Div. 6 Western Mass. We won't know exactly who is in/out until after entries close on Tuesday night, May 14th. We can get an idea of what MIGHT make it into the meet by comparing performances from the valley and from the Berkshires to see what others are doing. When I can get on top of that, I will publish what I find.
We may also take athletes who may not have qualified individually to fill our relays
Div. 6 State Championships @ Merrimack College - This is an auto/provisional qualifying meet. A team championship is awarded. If you achieve the standard listed on the website, you are in. If the fields are not full (32 running, 24 field), then they will fill the fields with the next best performances.
We may also take athletes who may not have qualified individually to fill our relays.
Massachusetts Meet of Champions - This is now (almost) a fully provisional meet. We submit our best, verified performances from the entire season and they will take the top 32/24 performances in the entire state regardless of division. They will also take the Div. 6 champion in each event automatically.
Bus information for Williams practices - After school you should hop on one of the following buses towards the track.
Buses W2, W6 and W7 are best.
Buses W3 & W5 are also possible.
Depending on the bus, you will need to walk down Meacham, Park, or Spring St. to get to the track.
Athletes may depart from the track for home, or take the 5:00 bus back to MG in order to catch the 5:15 buses home. Bus leaves from Latham St. near the skating rink parking lot.
