Cognia District Accreditation

This page provides information regarding the district accreditation protocol offered by Cognia. Currently, the Candler County School District and each of its schools are fully accredited. This means that annually, every public school in Candler County meets or exceeds the accreditation standards that support student achievement. The Candler County School District was one of the first school districts in the state of Georgia to undergo AdvancED District Accreditation in February 2007. In February 2012 and May 2017, the school district again hosted AdvancED External Review Teams and received district accreditation for five year periods. This year, our district will undergo an external review with Cognia for accreditation.

Based on a set of rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria, the accreditation process examines the whole institution–its policies, programs, practices, learning conditions, and cultural context–to determine how well the parts work together to carry out the institution’s vision and meet the needs of every learner. Accreditation isn’t about passing a one-time inspection. Rather, accreditation recognizes education providers that demonstrate and sustain their commitments to continuous improvement and better learner outcomes.

Cognia accreditation represents the unified policies and procedures for accreditation and certification from its Accreditation Divisions:

  • North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI)

  • Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC)

  • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI)
