Contemporary anthropologists are very concerned about what is often called “the problem of representation.”
The question, in part, is: who gets to “represent” a group of people, by writing about them, interpreting their behavior, and in other ways speaking “for” (or about) them?
- How does somebody get that right?

Introduction of cultural diffusion: relocation
- Favorite (or not so favorite) parts of Halloween.
- Where does Halloween come from? (we had a variety of responses). Someone said immigrants, majority said Mexico (Day of the Dead), some said Ireland we talked about the commonality of two distinctly different cultures. (Religion, Christian, Catholic, missionaries)
- History of Halloween (History Channel) and discussed relocation diffusion with Irish immigrants in the 1800s from the famine.
2nd part
Defined culture as is in their text, then did cultural iceberg (visible/invisible)
