PTO Clubs/Programs

Throughout the academic year volunteers organize before and after school activities which appeal to different audiences. Below is a peek at activities traditionally offered by the PTO. Registration is required and fees are charged to cover the cost of the activity. If you would like to start a new club or program please contact us at mdesptoinfo@gmail.com.

Lego League and Jr. Lego League  (Registration has closed: 9/13/2023)

There are two levels: K-3rd Explorer $30 per student and 4th & 5th Challenge $40 per student.

For K-3rd grade there will be about 6 kids and 2 coaches per team with one meeting a week lasting about 1.5-2 hours and there's a fair on one Saturday in December. All parents of Kindergarten students must coach. Since we will have limited access to the school this year, some meetings must be held outside of school.

For 4th-5th grade there will be about 6 kids per team and 2 coaches. There is more of a time commitment for Challenge and there'll be a competition in November. Meetings also must be held at the school (depending on the availability of school) or volunteer's house and there's a table required that's about 4ft x 6ft, which the school will provide. We will be starting early for Challenge teams so they have enough time to work on their projects.
