PTO Clubs/Programs

Throughout the academic year volunteers organize before and after school activities which appeal to different audiences. Below is a peek at activities traditionally offered by the PTO. Lego League and Jr. Lego League
MDES FIRST LEGO LEAGUE 2025

Levels:

• FIRST LEGO League Explore (Grades K–4): $20 per student

• FIRST LEGO League Challenge (Grades 4–5): $25 per student
  Note: 4th grade students may choose to participate in either Explore or Challenge.

Explore (Grades K–4):

• Teams will have approximately 6–8 kids and 2 coaches.

• Meetings will be held once a week, lasting about 1.5 to 2 hours.

• There will be a fair on a Saturday in December.

• All Kindergarten parents are required to coach.

• Meetings will take place either at the school (depending on availability) or at a volunteer's home.

Challenge (Grades 4–5):

• Teams will have approximately 6–10 kids and 2 coaches.

• Greater time commitment is required for Challenge participants.

• There will be a competition in November.

• Meetings will be held at the school (depending on availability) or at a volunteer's home.

• A table approximately 4 ft x 6 ft is required; the school will provide this.
