Meet Your Librarian: Debbie Hayes

I am a graduate of Longwood College where I received a bachelor's degree in English for Secondary Education. After teaching 9th grade English for 6 years and leading the PVHS Colorguard for 3 years, I returned to Longwood University where I received my master's degree in Education for Library Science. For the past 10 years I have been the library media specialist at West Oxford Elementary School in Oxford, NC and Southern Vance High School in Henderson, NC. Two years ago I made the move back to Virginia when I became the librarian at South Hill Elementary School. I love teaching students the love of reading, introducing them to stories, and teaching them research. I am a mother of two, Landon and Katie, who both attend South Hill Elementary. When I'm not taking my children to dance class, play practice or softball and soccer games, I am spending time at the lake and reading. Meet Your Library Assistant: Dolores Lewis

This is my 23^rd year working in the Mecklenburg County School system. I began at the “old” South Hill Elementary as a classroom paraprofessional. After 6 months, I went to Buckhorn and Boydton Elementary as the library assistant. I have 2 daughters, Stephanie & Lori. They are grown, and I am so thankful they live close by. I enjoy working in the library with all of the students.
