Chemistry
We follow the AQA specification for Chemistry. Our course is delivered by specialist Chemistry teachers and is designed to inspire and challenge students of all abilities.
Students will have 2 hours of timetabled lessons per week in year 10 and 11.
The course includes 10 units which are all externally assessed in 2 written papers in the summer of yr 11;
Chemistry paper 1 Chemistry paper 2
Atomic structure & the periodic table The rate and extent of chemical change
Bonding, structure & properties of matter Organic chemistry
Quantitative chemistry Chemical analysis
Chemical changes Chemistry of the atmosphere
Energy changes Using resources
The course also includes 8 required practical activities, to give students hands on experience and develop their understanding of scientific inquiry.
