Forensics Team

The Forensics Team (also known as Speech and Debate Team) travels the state and nation representing CCSF in intercollegiate forensics competitions. We debate current events and social issues, perform literature, AND present both memorized & impromptu speeches.

We often aim to win awards at tournaments (view our awards history), but success on the team is NOT MEASURED by trophies and cannot be briefly encapsulated. We aim to enhance the communication and critical thinking skills to inform and empower students, audiences, coaches, teachers and communities. We are a class but we are also a team, and we are part of a larger community of speech and debate programs that exist in middle schools, high schools, and colleges across the United State and World. You can read a little more about the team and CMST 38 (the class you enroll in to prepare for competition) on the CCSF Website, review a draft syllabus, or email me!

COVID-19 NOTIFICATION: Forensics tournament have gone online for Fall 2020. There will be asynchronous and synchronous options for students to compete, but all performance, debates, and speeches will be mediated by technology and your internet connection. Our team is dedicated to supporting all students learn how to successfully navigate academic virtual spaces to confront and overcome barriers to student learning that have been exacerbated by COVID-19. Forensics will be different this year! But it will still be fun, we will still be a team, and we will all improve our abilities to communicate competently in online environments.

Current Forensics students should access the syllabus and course materials through Canvas.
