Writing/Escritura

We are working on Poetry for Quarter 4. 

Intro to Course:  Third grade Writing focuses on students being able write to a topic and pull information from sources to cite in their writing.  It is the expectation that they will use information from sources to support their opinions or explain a topic. Students must then elaborate on the information from these sources.    

Assignments/Homework: There is no assigned homework for Writing. All work is completed in class.  Classwork consists of the writing process. Students are asked to brainstorm, write a rough draft, edit/revise, and write a final draft. Students test are their final drafts.  

Personal Narrative

Students are writing their own Personal Narrative stories on the computers. They can work on them at home and can access their work through the McGraw Hill website. 

Opinion Writing

Students can:

- restate the prompt in their main idea/topic sentence.

-use transition words and phrase to connect their ideas

-write conclusions that sum up their opinion 

Informative Writing

Students can:

-introduce a topic and group related information together

-develop a topic with facts and details

-write concluding statement

Realistic Fiction Writing 

Students are writing their own Realistic Fiction stories on the computers. They can work on them at home and can access their work through the McGraw Hill website. We have completed the Planning, Draft, Revise Stages, Edit and Proofread and Publish Stages. Students will be given time to catch up before the end of the quarter. 

Personal Narrative Writing 

Students are writing their own Personal Narrative stories on the computers. They can work on them at home and can access their work through the McGraw Hill website. We have completed the Planning Stage, the Draft Stage, the Revise Stage, Edit and Proofread Stage, and Publish stages.
