Math: In math, we will be working on Elapsed Time. We are stating to work with money. Adding and Subtracting through $10.00.
Example of Value vs. Place Value: 1,278
Place Value of the 8 is ones place
Place Value of the 7 is the tens place
Place Value of the 2 is the hundreds place
Place Value of the 1 is the thousands place
Value of the 8 is 8
Value of the 7 is 70
Value of the 2 is 200
Value of the 1 is 1,000
Stacking Example:

8 plus 5 = 13
the value of the 3 is 30 and the 6 is 60: 30 plus 60= 90
the value of the 2 is 200 and the 3 is 300: 200 plus 300= 500
last, 13 plus 90 is 103 and 500 more is 600 (mental math)
Elapsed Time Strategy:
How to solve: 7:15 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.
7:15 + 2:00 = 9:15
9:15 + :45 = 9:45
Add up the middle!
Answer: Elapsed Time is 2 hours 45 minutes
