3. PE Curriculm and Grading
Curriculum
All Madison Schools follow the PE curriculum and standards set by the Arizona Department of Education:
Arizona PE Curriculum & Standards
Coach V. integrates multiple sports, games, and activities to meet the curriculum standards.
Grading
Coach V. uses two sources to gather scores for grading. The first and most important factor in Kindergarten through Fourth Grade is the student's behavior. Students are expected to show Coach V. three things during PE instruction...hands at their side, voices off, and eyes on coach. The second set of scores used for grading are rubrics based on specific techniques that students need to show after they have been taught and practiced. Students who do their best and can show the technique, will score with maximum points. They are not required to perform the skill perfectly. For example, a student needs to show the correct steps to throw a frisbee, but are not graded on how well the frisbee is thrown.
