Guidelines
If the following guidelines are NOT followed- they will NOT be able to participate in the lab (cooking or eating) - alternate assignments will be provided.
Beginning of the Course
Students will pass a culinary safety test with a grade of 75% or better.
Students will learn about Covid-19 and how to recognize the symptoms.
Students will watch the three videos provided by ServSafe with regards to Covid-19 and complete the form to receive a certificate.
Before Lab
Students will have their temperature taken before entering a lab area.
Students who exhibit Covid-19 symptoms or have a fever of 100.4, will not be allowed in the lab area.
Symptoms include:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
Students will learn about and follow public health guidelines for returning to the classroom/lab.
Students will wear an effective face mask at all times.
Students will demonstrate proper hand washing before entering a lab area.
Students will demonstrate how to cover coughs and sneezes with a disposable tissue when possible, then followed immediately with washing hands properly. If tissue is unavailable, cough or sneeze into their elbow, not hands.
During Lab
Students will wash their hands before, during, and after lab.
Lab groups will not change and have people who are seated near each other during class time in the same groups. Groups will be smaller.
Students will follow ALL kitchen safety guidelines – including but not limited to:
Students will avoid touching their eyes, nose, mouth, or facemask when being worn – will wash hands if they do.
Even with hand washing, students will use barriers such as tongs, gloves, tissues, or other utensils to prevent direct hand contact with ready-to-eat foods.
Regularly clean and sanitize surfaces that are frequently touched.
Students will be encouraged to properly social distance to the best of their ability within the lab.
Thoroughly clean and sanitize facility when lab is over
After Lab
Students will only be allowed to consume food in the classroom if they are able to properly socially distance.
Students will avoid sharing items.
When students are unable to social distance, food will be packaged and stored appropriately so that students are able to consume food at an appropriate time.
